NU SKIN, bearing the culture of Force
For Good, has always been injecting the charity gene into the company and
developing the innovative sustainable social enterprise. NU SKIN initiated
Nourish the Children project around the world in 2002, and developed VitaMeal
with essential vitamins and minerals to nourish the children suffering from
hunger and malnutrition around the world. By April 2013, more than 300 million
meals have been distributed throughout the world. Besides, NU SKIN also offers
medical assistance to poor children with heart disease through establishing
NU SKIN Greater China Children Heart Fund. In the past 5 years, the project
has raised over RMB24 million donations and provided life-saving surgery
to over 1,300 children with heart disease. In 2012, NU SKIN has met the goal
of saving one poor child per day on average. The Force For Good culture has
won the unanimous approval of all judges.
April 27 happened to be the seventh day after Yaan earthquake. A brief silent
tribute was held among all the pop stars, celebrities and renowned entrepreneurs
present. Chinese Knots were also hung to wish the affected area safe. The
attendees encouraged the whole society to work together with all strengths
to make charity more powerful. After the earthquake, NU SKIN took action
immediately and Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation Mission donated relief
materials worth of RMB 10 million to the affected area through China Foundation
for Poverty Alleviation, including 5 million cash for purchasing relief materials
and relief materials of RMB 5 million worth, including NU SKIN products and
675,000 servings of VitaMeal. Once again, NU SKIN carried out its Force For
Good culture by offering most immediate relief to the affected people and
the disaster relief workers.
Winning the title of Top Ten China Charity Enterprises for 4 consecutive
years proves that the continuous efforts and outstanding performance NU SKIN
made in charity had been fully acknowledged. Patrick Yeung said at the ceremony,
"NU SKIN has always been devoted to be the leader in charity works, and practiced
the principle of "teaching people to fish than giving them fishes". We always
stick to Force For Good, encouraging people to do something good every day
and delivering positive energy to the society. NU SKIN 2.0 goal is to enable
500,000 children to smile every day."
It is said that the list this year including three parts: individuals, enterprises
and pop stars. For enterprises, one has to donate over RMB 1 million in one
year to be listed. There were 311 individual philanthropists on the 2012
China Charity List, with a total donation of about RMB 7.099 billion, and
627 enterprises listed, with nearly RMB 9.5 billion donations in total.
Since 2004, the China Charity List has been released once a year. In order
to ensure the statistics to be objective and just, the list mainly consider
statistics from 6 sources: statistics offered by civil administration, statistics
offered by social organizations, statistics released by annual reports of
listed companies, statistics offered by donators, statistics confirmed and
reported by public media, and statistics from the files of China Philanthropy
Times. The tenth China Charity List released this time is not only an overall
conclusion of the China charity work in the past year, but also a systematic
presentation of the development of China charity work in the past ten years.

Zhou Yun Jie
One Million Dollar Circle Member & Team Elite - 1 Year
The words from her mother- "to me you are half an Olympic champion"- triggered
Zhou's decision to leave her former career and start over from zero. Her
previous work experience exposed her to all sorts of scheming in the business
world, but still left her limited financial freedom and little time with the
family. Until knowing about NU SKIN, she realizes that there is another way
of doing business. It is possible to increase personal gain with the distribution
of quality products, while helping others at the same time. Today, her son,
Hou, also works at NU SKIN together. They have become a member of the One
Million Dollar Circle and Team Elites for 2012. To them, the success of direct
selling is built on developing shared values and beliefs. And, the Force
for Good is not as simple as a collection of occasional good deeds, but the
continuation of good influences at all times. Therefore, they decide to lead
by setting good example and help more people to flourish and grow through
the Force for Good.

Five Million Dollar Circle Member & Team Elite - 6 Years
After training in the army for ten years, Chen developed confidence, self-consciousness
and a down-to-earth personality. He learned what a true team building is.
When he started working in the government, he told himself that he needs to
work hard and wisely. In order to have a better career advancement, he resigned
and searched for other opportunities. He became the General Manager of a
foreign enterprise in less than three years of time. Growing up from a poor
environment, Chen thinks that having a high-paid job is not his only goal
in life. He wants his life stage that completely belongs to him. So he resigned
and joined NU SKIN in 2003. He became One Million Dollar Circle Member in
2007 and Five Million Dollar Circle Member in 2012. Also, he was a 4-Star
Platinum Team Elite for four consecutive years in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

NU SKIN Greater China Children
Heart Fund Arrived Zao Zhuang
On May 17, the launching ceremony of NU SKIN Greater China Children Heart
Fund assistance project was held grandly by NU SKIN, the leading anti-aging
enterprise, Shanghai Charity Foundation, Children's Hospital of Fudan University
and Maternal and Child Health Care of Zao Zhuang, at Maternal and Child Health
Care of Zao Zhuang. Meanwhile, the Children's Hospital of Zao Zhuang, established
at the same time, also became the fourth designated hospital of NU SKIN Greater
China Children Heart Fund besides Shanghai, Jilin and Xinjiang projects.

Recent statistics show, Zao Zhuang
has about 420 to 600 new cases of children with heart disease every year,
while there are still no resources for operations or treatments for congenital
heart disease of children. In 2013, Maternal and Child Health Care of Zao
Zhuang, as cooperative hospital of the Children's Hospital of Fudan University,
made its pediatric cardiac surgery department the specialist of the hospital.
However, even handling an easy case of congenital heart disease will cost
RMB 22,000 to 30,000 for the treatment. Zao Zhuang, located at south Shandong
Province, is a city with insufficient resources, with underdeveloped economy,
and its average annual income per capita of the rural residents has not broken
through RMB 8,000 until 2012. Thus, the cost has become a great economic
burden for many families and dragging them down or back to poverty, or forced
them to give up treatment and lose the opportunity for operation. NU SKIN,
once got to know the condition through the Children's Hospital of Fudan University,
introduced the NU SKIN Greater China Children Heart Fund assistance project
for congenital heart disease to Zao Zhuang without a hesitation and subsidized
RMB 500,000 as starting fund for the operation cost of the local children
with congenital heart disease and medical knowledge and trainings of local
doctors. The treatment assistance will be accomplished through screening
in the early stage, treatment, assistance from the hospital and voluntary
service. Besides, NU SKIN also promised to provide a RMB 5 million specific
assistance to Children's Hospital of Zao Zhuang in the coming ten years so
as to bring the advanced technology of congenital heart disease treatment,
enlarge the scope of assistance to the whole Shandong Province, helping more
poor children to get rid of poverty and illness, and get closer to the goal
of "saving 3 children on average per day in 2013".
Special guests presented the ceremony included Ma Shouyu, Secretary of Zao
Zhuang Health Bureau Party Committee and Director of Zao Zhuang Health Bureau,
Wu Xiurong, President of Children's Hospital of Zao Zhuang, Huang Guoying,
President of Children's Hospital of Fudan University, Xu Xiongxin, Minister
of Shanghai Charity Foundation Medical Department and Vincent Cheng, RVP,
Alignment cum President, West & North Mainland, Nu Skin Greater China.
Secretary Ma Shouyu expressed his sincere gratitude to NU SKIN Greater China
Children Heart Fund, "It will timely save the lives of many poor children
with congenital heart disease, change the fortune of their entire families
and bring more positive energy to the future of the beautiful China." President
Vincent Cheng also said that NU SKIN hoped to encourage more people and enterprises
to care about children with congenital heart disease through NU SKIN Greater
China Children Heart Fund so that more children can benefit from advanced
medical knowledge and techniques and get opportunities to change their lives.
Hopefully, the project of saving children with congenital disease can be
spread all around the nation and more children will be saved!
It is said that there are over 2.5 million children in China suffering from
congenital disease, with about 180,000 to 220,000 newly increased children
with that disease each year. Among which, two-third lost their lives or became
permanent disable resulted from lack of timely treatment due to poverty.
In order to allow the sick children from poor family to be treated timely
and further change their lives, NU SKIN, in accordance with its Force for
Good culture, cooperated with several charity organizations and hospitals
including Shanghai Charity Foundation, Children's Hospital of Fudan University,
Cardiac Children's Foundation Taiwan, Children's Hospital of National Taiwan
University, and Children's Heart Foundation of Hong Kong to initiate NU SKIN
Greater China Children Heart Fund project, offering assistance to the children
with congenital heart disease throughout the country. All the funds raised
for the project will be particularly used to assist the children with congenital
heart disease for medical checking in the early stage and treatment. NU SKIN
Greater China Children Heart Fund, since the launch in Mainland China, has
raised over RMB 24 million, far exceeding the targeted RMB 10 million in
ten years, and saved over 1,300 children with congenital heart disease. In
2012 the goal of saving 1 poor sick child on average per day has already
been realized.
Mainland
Shanghai
NU SKIN Greater China Children Heart Fund was initially launched in 2008.
NU SKIN had planned to donate RMB 1 million to the fund every year for ten
years, totaling RMB 10 million. While in only five years, we have already
raised over RMB 24 million, saving more than 1,300 children with congenital
heart disease. In 2012 we have already realized the goal of saving 1 child
on average per day and our goal in 2013 is to save 3 children on average
per day.
Since 2009, NU SKIN has organized staffs to volunteer in the "warm house"
project at Children's Hospital of Fudan University, bringing care and smile
to the children with congenital heart disease. By April 2013, there have
been over 780 volunteers who have accompanied more than 2,300 children, contributing
over 3,170 hours of volunteering.
Xinjiang
In May 2012, NU SKIN Greater China Children Heart Fund was officially launched
in Xinjiang. NU SKIN allocated RMB 500,000 as starting fund and planned to
donate RMB 5 million for the operation cost of the local children with congenital
heart disease and to train the local doctors' medical knowledge and skills.
Through cooperation with Children's Hospital of Fudan University, we successfully
helped Urumqi Children's Hospital to successfully accomplish the first operation
for congenital heart disease in its history. So far, the youngest sick child
being operated was only three-month old.
Jilin
In April 2013, NU SKIN Greater China Children Heart Fund was officially launched
in the First Bethune Hospital of Jilin University. NU SKIN planned to subsidize
RMB 10 million in the next 10 years to save the poor children with congenital
heart disease in Jilin Province and gradually spread the project to other
provinces in northeast China.
Hong Kong
Since 2005, NU SKIN worked closely with Children's Heart Foundation of Hong
Kong to assist children with congenital heart disease and their families
through varieties money-raising activities like sports day and charity walk.
So far, over RMB 6.44 million (equals to HKD 8 million) have been donated.
Taiwan
NU SKIN cooperated with Cardiac Children's Foundation Taiwan and Children's
Hospital of National Taiwan University to extend the treatment of congenital
heart disease to the prevention and screening so as to decrease the sudden
death of children resulted from potential congenital heart disease.
Since 2009, NU SKIN Greater China Children Heart Fund went to remote areas
in Taiwan every year. Now we have finished the screening of 20,207 children
from 64 primary and junior high schools in 11 remote counties including Jinmen
County, Jiayi County, Gaoxiong County, and Xinzhu County. 2,109 children
have been advised to go to hospital for further treatment.

Most disabled persons, due to their
physical condition and poor education background, are still living a life
below social average standard. In rural areas, the livelihoods of nearly
30% disabled people are still below national poverty line. Among all those
who are in poverty, the disabled remain the poorest and deep-rooted group
with the most populations fallen back to poverty. The theme of this year's
National Disabled Day is supporting the disabled. NU SKIN hopes to unite
over 900,000 NU SKIN business partners worldwide through Nourish the Children
project to help the poor Chinese disabled children grow up soundly. Meanwhile,
we also hope more enterprises and kind people will pay attention to and care
for the disabled.

the affected people to recover physically and psychologically
|
At the forum, Owen Messick, RVP, Operations cum President, China Operations
elaborated the NU SKIN sustainable charity mode: "NU SKIN combines the principle
of giving fishes, teaching fishing and giving love so as to improve the beneficiary’s
capability of self-sufficient. Thus, the sustainable charity will be possible."
Through innovation and exploration, NU SKIN, together with China Foundation
for Poverty Alleviation, established NU SKIN Greater China Microfinance Fund,
an effective supplement to the traditional finance service, to offer the
poor in the affected area in long-term and sustainable credit service. By
the end of March, 2013, the Fund had released over RMB 130 million loans,
with over 5300 families received help.

Charity and Social Enterprise Practice Forum
|
That morning, NU SKIN, guests and media representatives visited Shifang
Xianfeng village, which benefited from the microfinance fund, to see the
real impact of it. At the home of Wu Siqian, one beneficiary of microfinance
fund, he cooked at a construction site, started his own garlic business
with the help of microfinance fund after the earthquake. At the sight of
his glittering cart and steelyard, it was not hard to realize how hardworking
he was when he could finally afford to buy a bed three years after the earthquake.
Apparently, the microfinance fund did benefit local people. After the Yaan
earthquake, NU SKIN immediately donated cash and material worth of RMB 14
million in total to support the affected area. Now, after a period of time
since the earthquake, the relief work has basically finished, while the reconstruction
and the arrangement in the transition period are now on the agenda. NU SKIN
will further spread the successful mode of microfinance fund to Yaan, and
continue to work with the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation to help
the affected people to recover from the disaster and restart their life with
hope.

highly of NU SKIN Greater China Microfinance Fund and its sustainable charity
mode. He said, "NU SKIN Greater China Microfinance Fund is a successful practice
of the Bank for the Poor, created by Yunus, in China. Through the microfinance
service, it brought great changes to the rural area. Each loan will change
a family, which is a part of the society, and thus will definitely promote
the change and improvement of the society." Besides, the forum also invited
Liao Zhi, the most beautiful disable teacher in Wenchuan Earthquake and volunteer
in Yaan, to perform the Dance of Drum to show the victims her firm and tenacious
and to encourage them to recover soon. As a volunteer of the Yaan earthquake,
Liao Zhi shared her understanding, "We cannot offer the affected area the
relief materials forever. What is more important is to help them recover soon.
My dance and NU SKIN's self-sufficient charity idea both aimed at helping
the victims to recover physically and psychologically. I believe with more
social enterprises like NU SKIN and more projects like NU SKIN Greater China
Microfinance Fund, which helps the people affected to restart their lives.
The affected area will definitely see a brighter future!"
