柯得恩
NU SKIN 如新全球個人保養品研究及開發資深科學家

柯得恩為 NU SKIN 如新帶來了超過30年的個人保養品研發經驗,現擔任 NU SKIN 如新全球個人保養品研究及開發資深科學家。柯得恩於密西根州底特律市的韋恩州立大學獲得免疫學碩士學位元,及於物理生物化學領域深造碩士後課程。他同時為化妝品化學家協會、產品開發管理協會及國際技術授權主管總會(Licensing Executives Society)之成員。
在1994年加入 NU SKIN 如新前,柯得恩曾任職於海蘭克隆實驗室的行銷及產品開發資深總監。他設計和建造了5所研發機構及3個藥品生產設施,為工業、學術和監管的專案提供諮詢,擁有4項美國(國際)專利。
柯得恩對 NU SKIN 如新個人保養品及科技研發上作出重大貢獻,當中包括Epoch®系列、煥采再生系列及ageLOC® 修身美顏Spa。他更促成了 NU SKIN 如新皮膚研究中心與美國知名大學醫學院的合作,為 NU SKIN 如新個人保養品的安全性和有效性進行科學評鑒。柯得恩同時負責嶄新保養品科技的科學評鑒,以進一步研發更具市場競爭性的 NU SKIN 如新個人保養品。

NU SKIN 全球營養補充品研究及開發科學家

任一萍擁有中國科學院健康科學研究所細胞生物學博士學位,在生物化學、分子生物、細胞生物、醫學和營養科學等領域多有涉獵,專業能力備受肯定。從事科研研究20多年來, 她在國內外權威科學期刊和雜誌上發表過多篇專業論文,並曾經參與研發和申請國際與國內發明專利10餘項。
任一萍致力曾任職於著名醫院, 從事過跨國製藥、電子、醫療保健、生物技術等產業,於將前端科學技術轉化為臨床和保健食品的實際應用。現在, 她作為 NU SKIN 科研團隊中的重要科學家,積極與著名學府以及研究機構合作,建立研究課題和嶄新的研究平台,更致力於將抗衰老科學、營養科學及ageLOC®科技結合一起,為 NU SKIN 研發具競爭性且創新之優質產品而努力。

鄔茂超,15歲考入浙江大學,研究生畢業被分配到廣州大學任教。但為了讓家人得到更好生活,他自行創業,從廣告,展覽、商場,到裝修設計、工程、培訓中心、網站、醫藥銷售,每一個行業都從頭學起,繳了無數學費,也消耗了太多的激情與生命力。大學畢業後,梁紅東沒有按照父母的安排投身收入不錯的設計院工作,經過多年艱辛的打拼,從寶潔,到可口可樂,到吉列公司,事業可算是平步青雲。在一次偶然的機遇下,她認識了 NU SKIN ,經過深入的瞭解,梁紅東毅然放棄了高薪厚職, 鄔茂超也欣然辭去了令他身心疲憊的工作,一起全力以赴地開始 NU SKIN 事業。

「萬眾重? V型人生」快速達標秘技: 飲食篇
「烹調方式」 - 影響你總熱量攝取的關鍵!

除了食材本身的成分和種類之外,烹調方式也會大大影響食物的熱量!少油、少鹽、少糖的清淡食物,不僅對身體健康,在體重管理階段也是非常重要!盡量選擇綠燈區的烹調方式,少用醬料。黃燈區的食物要小心選擇,紅燈區的食物盡量完全避開。

烹調方式與熱量
脂油低:可多使用的烹調方式
蒸:利用隔水加熱及蒸氣,使食物變熟,如:蒸魚。
煮:食材處理好,放入滾水或湯中,長時間大火燒滾後撈出食材,如:煮蜆。
烤:食材經過調味料或香料腌製後,放入烤爐內烤熟,如:烤羊肉。
滷:以醬油及其他調味料或香料製作成滷汁,經長時間配以慢火烹煮,讓食材入味,如:滷水蛋。
涼拌:將食材不經過加熱,或在加熱後使其冷卻,再加入調味料搭配入味,如:涼拌青瓜。
灼:俗稱「焯水」、「飛水」,即將被烹調的食材在開水或者清湯中短暫燙一下,如:白灼蝦。
燻:將熟的食物放入蒸籠或放在鐵網上,鍋底撒食用香料,密封加熱燃燒,使其炭化生煙,吸附在食物的表面,如:煙燻三文魚。
湯:把食材放入湯,用慢火經烹煮,讓食材入味,如:上湯豆苗。

脂油中:謹慎使用的烹調方式
炆:食材先炒或煮,後加入少量高湯,以小火燜至湯汁收乾使食材熟透,如:炆牛腩。
燉:把食材加入湯,先用旺火燒沸,然後轉成中小火,長時間燒煮,如:燉冬瓜盅。
醃:利用糖、鹽、醋或其他調味料在烹調前浸泡食物,以使調味料的味道更能滲入食材中, 如:醃肉片。
煎:將食材以少許熱油在鑊中煎熟,如:生煎餃子。
焗:將食材調味後以錫紙包好,放入焗爐煮熟,如:鹽焗雞。
撈: 把醬料與食材拌勻,如:拌麵。

脂油高:盡量少使用的烹調方式
炸:多量油(可蓋過食材的量)燒熱後,將食物加熱至熟,如:炸雞塊。
爆:利用滾油、滾湯、熱醬,快速把食物煮熟,可分油爆、醬爆、湯爆等,如:醬爆雞丁。
酥:將油熱透,淋在已熟的食物上,使外皮變酥,如:香酥鴨。
燴:數種食材分別燙熟再回鍋一同混炒、混燒或混煮,如:蠔油燴三鮮。
勾芡:用芡粉加水攪勻的芡汁,放入食物,可使色味更佳。
炒:用滾油把食物及調味料倒入鑊,快速翻拌食材,如:炒鮮魷。

期盼在動盪世界中帶出美麗安定

與 NU SKIN 如新合作邁入第六年的雲門舞集,在動盪的國際社會氛圍中,將於11月推出「白水」與「微塵」兩齣全新作品,期盼用舞蹈的力量帶出美麗而安定的力量;宣告記者會中創辦人林懷民紅了眼眶,略帶哽咽的說:「希望世界各地的災民都能回到平常的生活,希望不要再有戰亂或災害發生…」。

雲門新作「白水」明亮清雅,「微塵」濃烈激昂,其編舞靈感,是來自於近幾年的災禍不斷,將表達出人類身處在世界,是如此的渺小。林懷民老師悲天憫人的創作理念令人動容,而雲門舞集永續的默默為社會奉獻的心,更觸動了有相同理念的 NU SKIN ,雲門舞集從對青年舞者的培訓、流浪者計畫、駐縣計劃到偏鄉巡迴義演等,這些計畫或許不是鎂光燈注視的焦點,但卻在世界種下真、善、美的種子,雲門用舞蹈啟蒙了無數的青年與兒童,影響著他們看世界的胸懷,教育了許多的新一代的夢想家與舞蹈家。

Scientist Speakers Introduction

Dale Kern
Senior Scientist, Global Research and Development, NU SKIN

Dale Kern brings over 30 years of experience in personal care development to his role as a Senior Scientist of NU SKIN Global Research and Development. Dale earned a Master of Science Degree (M.S.) in immunology from the Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and has a further education on the post-Masters course in physical biochemistry. He is a member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, the Product Development Management Association and the Licensing Executives Society.

Prior to joining NU SKIN in 1994, Dale was Senior Director of Marketing and Product Development at Hy Clone Laboratories. He has designed and built five R&D institutions, three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, provided consultation on numerous industrial, academic and regulatory projects and owns four U.S. (international) patents with many more in process.

Dale makes a significant contribution in the technology development and NU SKIN personal care products including the Epoch® series, the 180 product line and the Galvanic Spa System. He lined up the cooperation of the Nu Skin Center for Dermatological Research and the School of Medicine of a well-known university in America, and has been responsible for the safety and efficacy testing of NU SKIN personal care products. Dale is also responsible for the scientific evaluation of new skin care technologies for the further development on the more competitive NU SKIN personal care products in the market.

 

Ren Yiping
Scientist, Global Research and Development

Ren Yiping holds a doctoral degree in cellular biology from the Institute of Health Sciences, Chinese Academy of Science. She specializes in various fields such as biological chemistry, molecular biology, cellular biology, medicines and nutritional science. With over 20 years of research experience, she has published a number of professional papers in national and international authoritative scientific journals and participated in inventing and applying for more than ten international and Chinese patents.

She previously worked for a famous hospital and had working experience in the industries such as multinational pharmacy, electronics , healthcare and biological technologies, during which she dedicated herself to applying advanced science and technologies to the practical application of clinical practice and dietary supplements. Now as a member of the NU SKIN scientific research team, she is actively involved in collaborating with renowned academic institutes and research centers for the establishment of new research subjects and platforms. She is now focusing more on consolidating anti-aging science, nutritional science and ageLOC® technologies, striving to bring forth more innovative and competitive products for NU SKIN.

Tu, Hung Yi

After graduating from National Taiwan University, TU HUNG YI obtained a master degree at a prestigious university in the U.S. He used to serve as the Asia Pacific regional CEO for a listed US company, and was a senior manager in a technology company. He decided to work full time at NU SKIN after recognizing its difference. He set an example, and developed many excellent leaders. He and his partners seized the great business opportunity of ageLOC® and won the Centurial Star Expedition Leadership Bonus in 2013. He and his partners work closely together to develop their business, create success in their lives and create more smiles.

Yu Hong

After graduating from the university in 1989, Yu Hong began working at the export department of an international trading consultancy firm. In 1991 both she and her husband left their jobs to do their own business. The affluent life she enjoyed over the past years did not make her lose her dreams. When many people were concerned about others’ views and how other people looked at them, struggling whether to believe or not, Yu Hong has already been on her way to her dreams. She encountered NU SKIN in 2003 and found that she happened to share the same view on NU SKIN’s mission. Wu Maochao entered Zhejiang University at 15, and became a teacher after he completed a postgraduate degree. In order to give his family a better life, he decided to become an entrepreneur in a variety of industries, from advertising, exhibition, shopping mall, interior design, engineering, training center, website design to pharmaceutical sales. In each industry he always started from the beginning, investing in substantial sums of money, passion and energy. After graduating from the university, Liang Hongdong refused her parents’ arrangement and sought a well-paid job at a design institute. With hard work in many famous companies for years, she had a success in her career. By chance she encountered NU SKIN and had a deep understanding of its business model, which made Liang Hongdong to give up her job to start over. Wu Maochao also left his exhausting job to embark on a full-time career with NU SKIN.

Wei Ruiling was once referred by the media as “the legendary woman of western China business”, due to her excellent achievements in selling medical equipment, real estate, hi-tech products and running a female school. When she started NU SKIN business, she also positioned herself as “the legendary woman of NU SKIN”. However, due to the unfavourable economic environment and lack of experience, her newly established business was frustrated by the change of environment. Her choice also caused doubts from her relatives and friends. Facing sarcasm and obstacles, Wei Ruiling still believed that she had made the right choice and she never doubted that she can achieve her success. In 2010 she was promoted to National Sales Director, was qualified 2011 ~ 2013 Team Elite for three years in a row and become an *Million Dollar Circle Member. All the effort is paying off.
As a leader, her success not only brings more hope to her partners but also makes Wei Ruiling believe in the value of NU SKIN. Congratulations! After a six-month audit period, NU SKIN Taiwan has obtained the SGS Qualicert Service Quality Certification for two consecutive years, from 2013 to 2014, which shows our commitment of establishing a corporate culture of best services and applying the highest services standards.

Passing the verification was not an easy job. Public validation of the service criteria developed by NU SKIN must be verified by an independent committee made up of the recognized service users, providers and industry experts. "Cooking Methods" - The key to your total calorie intake!


Besides a food’s components and its category, cooking methods will also immensely affect the calories of food! Low oil, salt and sugar food is not only healthy, but is also very important during the weight management period! Always choose food that is cooked with methods in the green light category, and minimize the use of sauces. Food that is cooked with methods in the yellow light category should be chosen carefully. And food that is cooked with methods in the red light category should be avoided completely.

Cooking Methods and Calories
Low fat and oil: cooking methods that can be used more often
Steam: Place the food on a plate or in a bowl suspended above boiling water; the boiling water vaporizes into steam which cooks the food. E.g. Steamed fish.
Boil: Place the food into boiling water or soup until the food is cooked. E.g. Boiled clams.
Grill: Place the seasoned or marinated food inside a grill to be cooked. E.g. Roasted lamb
Marinating: Use soy sauce and other flavoring or sauces to create a marinated sauce. The food ingredients are then simmered in the sauces for a lengthy period of time. E.g. Marinated Egg.
Served cold: Season the food, that has not been heated or has been heated and thereafter cooled. E.g. Marinated cold cucumber.
Blanching: Food is plunged into boiling water, removed after a brief, timed interval. E.g. Scalded shrimp.
Smoked: Put cooked food on an iron net or in steamer in a pot, with spices sprinkled at the bottom, cap the pot and heat it so as to make it carbonized. E.g. smoked salmon.
Soup: Place the food into the soup, and boil it slowly so that the food absorbs all of the flavor. E.g. Pea sprouts in broth.

Moderate amounts of fat and oil: Cooking methods that require careful use
Stew: First, fry or cook the food, then add small portions of soup, and stew the food on low heat until the soup is concentrated and the food is cooked. E.g. Beef stew.
Simmer: First boil the soup containing the food on high heat and then simmer it on medium or low heat for a lengthy period of time. E.g. Whole winter melon soup.
Pickled: Soak the food in sugar, salt, vinegar or other flavorings, so as to allow the food to absorb all the flavors. E.g. Pickled meat.
Fry: Heat the food in small amount of boiling oil. E.g. Fried dumplings.
Bake: After flavoring the food, wrap with tinfoil and bake in an oven. E.g. Baked chicken in salt.
Stir: Mix the food with sauces and stir. E.g. Stirred noodle.

High in fat and oil: use these cooking methods as little as possible
Deep Fry: Place the food into large amounts of heated oil (enough to cover the food) and heat until food is cooked. E.g. Fried chicken.
Quick Fry: Fry the food quickly in boiling oil, soup or sauce, and is thus divided into oil- fried, sauce- fried and soup- fried. E.g. Quick fried chicken.
Crisp: Heat the oil and pour it onto the cooked food to make the crust crisp. E.g. Crispy duck.
Braise: Heat up several ingredients respectively, and put them into the pot together to saute, cook, or boil. E. g. Seafood braised with oyster sauce.
Thickening: Mix the corn starch with water and put it onto the food to make it look and taste better.
Saute: Put the food and flavorings in boiling oil, stir-fry them quickly. E.g. sauteed squid.

"Beyond Beauty – Taiwan from Above", the best-selling documentary in the history of Taiwan’s film industry, shows the beauty and sorrow of Taiwan on a big screen. Taken from a bird’s eye view, the film takes the audience above the clouds to see the current situations of Taiwan in various themes. In line with the mission of NU SKIN Force for Good Foundation to constantly convey positive energy, NU SKIN Taiwan invited 1,600 business partners and volunteers of charity groups to the movie theater to watch "Beyond Beauty – Taiwan from Above" in November 2013. NU SKIN Taiwan also sponsored TV promotions and would continue to support the popularization of the film. This documentary has not only received enthusiastic response in Taiwan, but also would been released successively in Hong Kong, Japan and Southeastern countries this year, conveying the touching message expressed by the film all over the world. Director Chi Po-Lin and producer Wan Guan-Li visited NU SKIN Taiwan personally and gave "Wind Dancer", a bronze sculpture, to Ms. Charlene Chiang, Regional Vice President, Opportunities cum President, Taiwan, NU SKIN Greater China, to express their appreciations for NU SKIN ’s great support.

"Wind Dancer" depicts the spirit of unyieldingness and moving forward to fulfill one’s dreams defying the headwind. Inspired by the same spirit, director Chi, Po-Lin continuously took pictures high up in the sky to record the beauty and sorrow of Taiwan. With this sculpture, director Chi wanted to hand on this spirit to NU SKIN Taiwan to encourage NU SKIN partners to insist on moving forward to fulfill their dreams in spite of the headwind and difficulties.

Recently, director Chi helped Taichung City Government make an aerial documentary and organized an imaging concert that combines images, performances and choruses to interact with the public to emphasize the importance of land conservation with "beauty". At the press conference, Mr. Lin Hwai-min, Founder of Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, said with red eyes and in a bit of sobbing voice, "I hope all the victims of disasters around the world will get back to their normal life as soon as possible and there will be no more wars and natural disasters…"

Inspired by the endless disasters in recent years, Cloud Gate’s new works - the bright and elegant "White Water" and the strong and passionate "Little Dusts" – depict the insignificance of human beings in this world. Lin’s humanitarian philosophy of creation and Cloud Gate’s constant and silent devotion to the society have touched NU SKIN that shares the same philosophy. Although Cloud Gate’s Training Young Dancers Program, Wanderers Program, County Residence Program and remote country tours may not be in the limelight, they have planted the seeds of truth, goodness and beauty around the world. Through dancing, Could Gate has inspired countless youngsters and children, influenced their aspiration for the world, and cultivated many dreamers and dancers of the new generation.
