We have introduced the enriching activities in Day 1 of the NU SKIN Academy in the previous issue, and now let’s look into Day 2.
In the morning, there will be a warm up exercise which involves the active participation of all partners for a more refreshing mind and better body figures. (Friendly reminder: Please take your TR90 products and wearsports suits for the exercise.)
After the warm up exercise, 5 leaders will give us a speech on 5 Success Motives respectively, namely Dream, Set Goals, Believe, Take Action and Lead! Let’s learn how the leaders managed to accomplish their goals! Be prepared to be charged!
What’s more is that we have booked two sessions of "the House of Dancing Water", which is the largest performance on water with an investment of over RMB1.65 billion (HKD 2 billion), so all the partners can enjoy the fantastic show and experience an unprecedented visual feast after a whole day of learning sessions. Besides, after the activities on the second day, partners can arrange their free time for group sharing

Scientist Speakers Introduction
Prof. Li Chang-Ling
Member of NU SKIN Anti-Aging Scientific Advisory Board
Professor at School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Mainland China well known university
Professor Li Chang-Ling, who formerly served as a member of
the National Pharmacopoeia Committee, has long been committed to
teaching pharmacology and relevant research works. His academic focus
is mainly on the study of cardiovascular drugs. Professor Li
implemented the assay method for platelet-activating factor in natural
medicine research, which has been granted the second prize by the State
Board of Education Technology Progress Award. In addition, he explores
in depth the herbal ingredients.
Over the years, Professor Chang-Ling Li has participated in a number of
researches and development of new drugs based on Chinese herbal
medicine, such as indirubin, ginkgo biloba extract, etc. Moreover, he
has published more than 80 researches. Prof. Li's outstanding
pharmacology achievements have provided forward-looking guidance and
valuable experience for the development of PHARMANEX nutritional
supplements such as Ganoderma lucidum, Cordyceps and other anti-aging
products.

Professor, Graduate Institute of Pharmacognosy College of Pharmacy, Taiwan well-known Medical University
Professor Hsu Feng-Lin holds a Ph.D. degree from Kyushu
University Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Japan, and
focuses his research on natural medicinal chemistry and analysis of
natural products. His research of Chinese herbal medicines includes the
research on and the development of medicines that lower blood pressure,
fight cancer and hepatitis, regulate the immune system lower blood
sugar as well as improve blood circulation.
Professor Feng-Lin Hsu has a wealth of experience in the research and
development of herbal medicine and healthy foods. In addition, he
serves as member of the Pharmaceutical Science and Technology Program
Review Committee of many government units, and presides over dozens of
national research programs. Moreover, he cooperates with a number of
institutes in Taiwan, such as Department of Pharmacy of National
Defense Medical Center, Institute of Toxicology of Taiwan University,
etc., to explore the efficacy and pharmacology of active ingredients of
natural products. Furthermore, he has published fruitful theses and
articles and obtained many patents. For his research on "the usage of
fern prime compound for the treatment of diabetes and obesity",
Professor Feng-Lin Hsu won a gold medal at the Inventeco International
Exhibition of Inventions in Italy and a silver medal at "Archimedes",

Yan grew up in the northern rural areas in Xi'an. Due to poor family
financial situation, she was very eager to live in a big city. She
worked as a salesperson in the mall for a year right after she came to
Xi'an at 19-year-old. However she was unwilling to make a lifetime to
work for others, so she started her own business as a street vendor
concentrated on selling clothing for two years, and then owned a
cosmetic beauty spa for five years afterwards. After marriage, she set
up a snack store in a small district and continuously expanded into a
1, 000 square meters large hotel in six years.
There was no way to compete with traditional business and large
enterprise. Although she always wanted to open more branches, the

"The volunteer team attended a Recycling Bag DIY Workshop today with children who are suffering from congenital heart disease. Their parents could thus take a rest from looking after them. After talking with the parents, I understand that the raising the children who are suffering from congenital heart disease is not easy. It is difficult to imagine how much effort the parents have paid! But they are strong and optimistic as their children gradually recovered after having surgery. There are still millions of children who are waiting for our help in China. Let us uphold the "Force for Good" spirit to save more lives!" Serina Tan said. |
Remarks:
-The captain and vice-captain must be a business partner of NU SKIN.
-The captain and vice-captain are responsible for coordination and liaison jobs. They should ensure that there are 10 people in their team to attend each activity. The captains can recruit different team members (maximum 10 members including the captain and vice-captain) upon the needs of each volunteer work.
-Volunteers shall bear parts of the expenditure of the activities. Each volunteer needs to pay HKD 100 for each activity.

Force For Good Creates Smiles in Africa— Highlights of 2013 NU SKIN Malawi Trip
NU SKIN Malawi Trip was definitely another extraordinary trip to the participants. For all they have seen, heard, thought and experienced in these 5 days, it was such an unforgettable experience. So many smiles created; so many touching moments. Poverty could not stop children’s smiles. The Force For Good Culture of NU SKIN allows changes to be seen, hopes to be found and future to be expected. We believe there is still room for improvement. Let’s create more smiles for the children.
The group invited the most important charity partners to the trip. Accompanied by Patrick Yeung, RVP, Leaderships cum President, Hong Kong & Macau, NU SKIN Greater China and Queenie Sheng, Vice President, Success & Branding Communications, NU SKIN Greater China, Tang Xiaoquan, Director General of China Foundation for Disabled Persons, Fei Wei, Deputy Director General and Secretary General of China Foundation for Disabled Persons, Chen Xiao Xia, Secretary General of China Children and Teenagers’ Fund, and Liu Wenkui, Secretary General of China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation together visited the major project locations NU SKIN initiated in Malawi.
Besides, Man Cheuk Fei, Chief Editor Emeritus of Hong Kong Economic Journal and reporter from CTI also followed and reported the event. It was the first visit to Malawi for all our guests. The poverty and desolation of Malawi told everyone how valuable the lasting benevolence of NU SKIN was. Even the representatives of the charity organizations and media guests who have been used to these scenes claimed, “It was so impressive and unexpected!”
August 12 VitaMeal Distribution In Chitukula/Visit VitaMeal Production Factory/Visit Mtendere Orphanage
The group arrived at Chitukula and joined the VitaMeal distribution at 9:15 am. When they arrived, hundreds of people had already sat there, waiting for the distributionwith patience and in an orderly way. Most of the mothers and children had travelled long way here. They were all wearing smiles and singing despite the hunger.

The VitaMeal Production Factory in Malawi, established by NU SKIN Nourish The Children Initiative, Feed The Children, and Malawi Project, offers over 400 job opportunities and also VitaMeal for local people. Besides, local residents receive as much as 1,800,000 meals donated by business partners around the world every month. Local children suffering from AIDs and other diseases thus got nourished. That’s why Ms. Banda, the President of Malawi, named VitaMeal as Miracle Food.
In the VitaMeal Production Factory, the group met with Mr. Napoleon Dzombe, a legendary figure and NU SKIN’s most significant partner in Malawi.
Under the tree outside the factory, Mr. Napoleon Dzombe told us about his charity philosophy and his cooperation with NU SKIN in the Nourish The Children Initiate. He was born in a poor family and gradually became successful through hard work. Meanwhile, he did not forget his hometown, and has been devoted in alleviating poverty in Malawi, which made him a local philanthropist. His cooperation with NU SKIN started with a coincidental opportunity. His collaboration with Feed The Children successfully decreased the death rate of children in Malawi and the local economy had also been refreshed with the opening of the VitaMeal Production Factory.

After leaving the factory, the group arrived at the Mtendere orphanage. The beautiful singing of the children from the classrooms and the traditional rhythm also made everyone feel closer to each other. The group prepared a game named “The Plane War” and played with the children happily.

August 13 Mtalimanja Village/School of Agriculture For Family Independence (SAFI)
After a one and a half hour ride, the group arrived at the School of Agriculture For Family Independence (SAFI) at Mtalimanja Village to visit the changes of the school and to see how the Bright Future Initiative helped the local famers to teach others their agriculture experiences.
In 2007, Blake Roney and Napoleon Dzombe decided to strengthen their cooperation and started the School of Agriculture For Family Independence initiative. NU SKIN invested in establishing the man-made lake for water accumulation, dormitories for teachers and, farmers, etc. on the piece of land which covers 50 acres and donated by Napoleon Dzombe. Every year SAFI chooses around 30 poor families who make their living by farming and the chosen ones will settle at SAFI to learn agricultural technologies. In their first SAFI year, the farmers will learn how to plant corns and vegetables, raise poultry and preserve food. Their children will also receive education in SAFI. After one year of studying, they will go back to the village and apply the technologies into practice with the help of SAFI teachers who will visit them regularly. Meanwhile, they will also pass on their knowledge to other famers in the village.

Leaving SAFI, the group travelled 2 hours to a village at the center of Malawi, where SAFI graduates shared their farming experiences with other local farmers. At night, a graduate told the group that he had already passed on his knowledge to 4 farmers and the 4 of them has also passed it on to another 10 farmers. Through this mode, one SAFI student was capable of teaching 40 farmers how to put the new technologies into practice. The philosophy of teaching people to fish is thriving in Malawi.

NU SKIN Volunteers Create Smiles in Wanfangqineng Center Enthusiastically Despite the Heavy Rain
Led by Liu Qian, One Million Dollar Circle Member and Team Elite - 2 Years, together with Chen Xiaolin, Emerald Executive, Huang Jianhuang, Ruby Executive, Chen Jiayu, Peng Yiting and Li Xiangyi, Gold Executives, formed a NU SKIN Volunteer Team and went to Taipei Wanfangqineng Center to care for the people suffering somatopsychic disturbance. The center mainly offers social welfare service to those suffering moderate and severe somatopsychic disturbance, and aims at qualify them for working. Ranging from 15 to 65 years old, the service takers would be divided into different classes according to their condition so as to allow them to be taught and taken care in the most suitable ways.
The business partners and students were put into pairs and divided into two teams in the activity on that day. They first joined a coins-throwing game, which helped to train the hand muscles and the ability of coordination. Then, students were led to play outdoor ball games, which increased their exercising range. The activities taught the students the spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship.
During the activities, some students helped on photo shooting, and some helped to measure others’ temperature. Volunteers were glad to see the children learnt to work hard and help others and also felt how happy they are. Li Siwen said, "I am really touched by their innocence shown when playing games. The most impressive thing is when the students helped to measure others' temperature, they were trying to help with their limited power. I am so happy that we are able to help more people."
The students and the volunteers spent an afternoon full of vigor and smile in the center. Huang Jiahuang and Lin Zhiyu, who attended the volunteer service for the 2nd time, were both touched, "We saw the simple and innocent part in these children. Looking back to our happy life, we feel that we should also keep a simple heart and try our best to help more people."
Li Xiangyi, who attended the volunteer activity despite pregnancy and the far distance, practices the Force for Good philosophy, "In the past, I never dealt with people with somatopsychic disturbance and thus stayed away from them. But after knowing them more, I am more willing to pay more attention to them and help them with smiles. I appreciate the hard work of the social workers and the teachers for what they have been doing so much for the society and the parents."
