300,000 servings of VitaMeal nourish poor disabled children in Chongqing NU SKIN Greater China NTC Project, China Foundation for Disabled Persons launched in Chongqing

In the morning of April 24, 2014, the opening ceremony of “ NU SKIN Greater China NTC Project, China Foundation for Disabled Persons” in Chongqing which was originated by NU SKIN, the China Foundation for Disabled Persons and the World Children Fund, was held in Chongqing Disabled People Service Center. The attendees included Tang Xiaoquan, Director of the China Foundation for Disabled Persons; Liu Qiang, Vice Mayor of Chongqing; Li Binghua, Honorary Director of the China Foundation for Disabled Persons, former member of the Beijing Standing Committee, and the Minister of Organization Department; Owen Messick, RVP, Operations cum President, China Operations; Zhihui Liu, Chief Advisor & Vice President, External Affairs (Provincial), NU SKIN Greater China; Lin Chunlei, Director of the World Children Fund China Project, and the local representatives in Chongqing of the disabled children. It also marked the 300,000 servings of VitaMeal (worth RMB 2 million) donated by NU SKIN will be distributed.

Zhou Ming, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director-general of Chongqing Disabled Person’s Federation, said in his speech that on behalf of the Vice Mayor Liu Qiang, Chongqing Disabled Person’s Federation and the 1.694 million disabled people in Chongqing, he would like to express his sincere gratitude to NU SKIN for the support and help. Xing Jianxu, Deputy Director of the China Foundation for Disabled Persons also said, “Both NU SKIN and the China Foundation for Disabled Persons are welcoming the 30th anniversary. Confucius said, “At thirty, I stood firm.” Both two organizations are at the time of mature. NU SKIN keeps practicing its Force for Good culture will help to strengthen our cooperation.” Owen Messick, RVP, Operations cum President, China Operations, said, “As a multinational corporation in China, NU SKIN has always been adhering to its mission to be a Force for Good. These charity works only represent 5% of our time and efforts in our lifetime, but will determine 95% of the value of our lives. We hope more and more people will work with NU SKIN to help more children and spread Force for Good.” As early as in 2007, NU SKIN has started donating VitaMeal in Chongqing. So far, we have donated over 1.37 servings of VitaMeal (worth over RMB 9.1 million). At our 30th Anniversary, NU SKIN hopes to help the local poor children growing up healthily and create more smiles through the continuous donation of VitaMeal.

During the ceremony, Tang Xiaoquan, Director of the China Foundation for Disabled Persons, Liu Qiang, the Vice Mayor and Owen Messick, RVP, Operations cum President, China Operations, distributed VitaMeal to the representatives of the disabled children and accepted the loving gifts made by the children. They also went to visit the benefited disabled children and tasted varieties of food made by VitaMeal. Children all stated that “VitaMeal is delicious!” The medias present asked about how NU SKIN operated the Nourish the Children (NTC) program. Owen Messick, RVP, Operations cum President, China Operations said in the interview that, “NU SKIN is deeply worried about that over 15,000 children around the world die of malnutrition every day and thus initiated the NTC project in 2002, aiming to offering the children who are suffering from hunger and malnutrition what they need the most. The VitaMeal donated by NU SKIN, accompanying the School Lunch Program, will be distributed to the needy children and help to nourish them as well as allowing them to receive education through the professional channels of the China Foundation for Disabled Persons. So far, NU SKIN has donated over 360 million servings of VitaMeal throughout the world, of which 75 million were donated to Greater China region and 51 million in poverty-stricken areas in China, covering children of 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipal cities.”
